Preserving the Method
Preserving the Classical Pilates Method
At Pilates by the Lake, we bring the original Pilates method developed by Joseph Pilates to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Through direct lineage training under master-level teachers, we preserve the integrity and precision that define authentic Pilates.
This is Pilates as it was meant to be—honoring the six key principles: control, concentration, centering, precision, breath, and flow.
Our teaching philosophy emphasizes mindful movement, individual attention, and strength from the inside out.
More Than Exercise
A Mindful Practice for Life
Pilates builds long, lean strength, improves posture, and enhances flexibility without adding bulk.
Coeur d'Alene Pilates sessions are ideal for all fitness levels—whether you’re recovering from injury, enhancing athletic performance, or seeking better balance in daily life.
Start with Confidence
Everyone begins somewhere.
Our goal is to help you feel the benefits of Pilates in every part of your life—whether that’s better performance, more energy, or simply moving pain-free.
We recommend 3–5 private sessions or our Fundamentals Workshop before joining group classes. You’ll learn the essential principles and key engagements for a positive, empowering movement experience.
How Coeur d'Alene Pilates Works
Your first session is all about getting to know you—how your body moves, what your goals are, and how we can best support you. We’ll guide you through the basics and help you build a strong, confident foundation from the start. From there, we’ll create a personalized plan with one to three sessions per week that fits both your needs and your schedule.
As you grow stronger and more comfortable, you’ll have the option to join our small group classes (with no more than five clients) for a supportive, community feel. Prefer to stick with one-on-one sessions? That’s always an option too. This is your journey, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.
Private Assessment
Your first session includes a full-body evaluation, goal setting, and foundational instruction.
Personalized Plan
Continue 1–3 sessions per week tailored to your needs and schedule.
Progression to Classes
Join our small classes (up to 5 clients) or continue privately—it’s your journey.

Michelle Gilreath
OWNER, FOUNDER, INSTRUCTOR
I’ve always been passionate about helping people move better and feel stronger. Pilates entered my life in 2013, and I fell in love with its intelligence and transformative power.
I completed a comprehensive teacher training and later a Master Teacher program under one of the two women certified by Joseph Pilates himself. That direct lineage deeply influences my teaching today.
Nothing brings me greater joy than watching clients grow in strength, confidence, and connection. Pilates by the Lake is more than a studio—it’s a community where we move, learn, and thrive together.
Lori Fritz
INSTRUCTOR
Hello, I’m Lori Fritz, a Lolita Legacy-certified Pilates instructor with 5½ years of experience guiding clients toward strength, balance, and alignment. My journey with Pilates began as a way to manage my scoliosis and frequent visits to the chiropractor for back and neck pain. I fell in love with the "coordination of body, mind and spirit" - the elements that make up the Pilates Contrology method. Pilates practice provided me a new level of centering and strength, and ease of movement not found in my other exercise models.
Now, I’m passionate about sharing this gentle, yet powerful, practice to help others feel centered and strong, no matter their starting point. In my classes, I strive to create a calming, supportive space, emphasizing mindful movement for all levels. My home is in Spokane, WA and my heart is at Priest Lake, where I enjoy spending time on the water, on the golf course, or just relaxing with friends and family.
